This is to create a community of excellenc that is able to compete and face the challenges of globalisation and in science and technology as prescribed by Islam.

"Muslims must learn from this major event by effecting change in various aspects of their own lives to achieve distinction," it said.

In conjunction with the Maal Hijrah national-level celebration this time, a special forum with the panellists comprising Ustaz Farid Ravi Abdullah and Ustaz Badli Shah Alaudin will be held at Masjid Negara tomorrow.

Tennis Anyone?

Collecting stamps doesn’t make you a ‘Dork’ Maria!
“It is something that was introduced to me when I was very young,” the 22-year-old said.“I have been very lucky over the years to travel to some amazing countries and I always try to collect stamps from every place I go.

“I am hoping one day that I will be able to hand my collection over to my kids.”

Usually influential for her racket skills and ‘marketers dream’ looks over her off-court hobbies, Sharapova’s admission has contributed to a more fashionable image for the
most traditional of pastimes.

Stamp sales have increased by 30 percent in the last month according to ebay, while the Royal Philatelic society has noticed a significant rise in its membership.

Sharapova first admitted to the unlikely hobby in 2006, though at the time, she appeared less than reluctant to divulge the information, muttering;
“Everyone’s calling me a dork now.”

WTA adds Malaysia to 2010 events.

The Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) in collaboration with promoters Carbon Media Management and the Youth and Sports Ministry will host the Malaysian Tennis Classic 2010 at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort from Feb 22-28.

With Malaysia joining a select number of countries in Asia to host the Tour event, the tournament will be guaranteed of the presence of at least two players from the top 20. Besides a 32-player singles competition, the tournament will also have a doubles event featuring 16 pairs.

The LTAM president, Datuk Abdul Razak Latiff, said that Malaysia would be hosting a WTA-sanctioned event for the first time.

Avatar

Another movie not to be missed!

In spite of the exaggeration of the title, James Cameron certainly does wonder very well. There are few films which utilize both sci-fi and fantasy, while keeping both genres pure. Most stories would rather mix and match elements of each to create a fusion. But Avatar violently veers between the two extremes. I suppose that it’s done in order to establish the conflict between natural and technological. The trailer also lists Cameron’s credentials…more like announces them boldly, as if this is the culmination of everything that he has done so far. I still don’t know what to think of it, but the three and a half minute trailer certainly fills one with wonder, doesn’t it? To be released on 18th December 2009.

In the future, a paraplegic war veteran is brought to the planet Pandora which is inhabited by the Navi. The Navi is a humanoid race with their own language and culture, but the people of Earth find themselves at odds with the Navi.

Before the release of the movie, the Avatar The Game a video game from Ubisoft will be released on 1st December 2009. The game will be available on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii, DS and PSP. As website Joystiq points out, the PS3 and PC versions will be 3D if players have the necessary set-up. So watch out gamers!

Men's Messenger Bags are a Unique and Stylish Alternative to Backpacks

Men's messenger bags are a functional and stylish alternative to backpacks and briefcases. You may have seen them before--they are bags worn over one shoulder with a flap closure that fastens with a buckle. The shoulder strap is adjustable for a custom fit and often well padded for comfort.

Men don't have many options when it comes to finding the equivalent of a women's purse that allows carrying around items that do not fit in the pockets without giving up style. With a men's messenger bag you can achieve a unique look while getting functionality you just don't get with a backpack. The design of the bag allows you to quickly reposition the bag to the front of the body for easy access to the contents without removing the shoulder strap. Some bags offer a quick-release buckle on the main strap to remove the bag easily without pulling the strap up and over your head which is useful when the contents of the bag are heavy.

Many manufacturers have created urban inspired designs that offer a unique and expressive look that makes a great accessory to your wardrobe. They make great school bags to carry around laptops, books, notebooks, pens, water bottles, and everything else you need in a typical school day. While a backpack is useful to carry the same items, they all look very much the same and are a drag to take on and off to access the contents.

There are also specialized types of men's messenger bags sometimes referred to as courier bags. These are bags designed specifically for the bicycle or motorcycle courier profession. A few of the features this type of bag offers you may not find in other bags are: quick release main strap buckle, cross strap stabilizer, fully waterproof lining, heavy-duty industrial materials and contruction methods, and often will carry a lifetime warranty. You may find the unique look of courier bags to be fashionable and the additional features they offer to be suitable for daily usage, even if you are not a courier by profession.

When you are shopping for a bag to carry around all your things whether you are a student, a courier by profession, or just heading to the local coffee shop, you may find the form and function of men's messenger bags to be an appealing choice.

Cordless Headphones

Sometimes when you just want to listen to some music alone or when you do not want other people to know what you are listening to, you may want to consider using headphones. Nowadays, there are many types of headphones available in the market to choose from and one of them is Cordless Headphones.

Cordless headphones are headphones that are not physically connected to the main device with a wire. These headphones use radio waves to receive signals from the main source. They provide extreme flexibility to do anything while wearing them - walk, jog, skate or even ski.

Cordless headphones are becoming fairly common even for household use like watching TV or listening to music. Since they are not connected by cords to the main equipment, they allow flexibility to move around and do things like cooking, exercising or any other household chores.

Some wireless headsets use infrared rays for receiving signals, like a remote control. These have a limited range of receiving of a maximum of 30 feet. Cordless headphones, on the other hand, use radio waves. The headset should be adjusted in frequency with the base station so as not to interfere with other devices. These headsets have a greater frequency of up to 2.4 GHz and can reach up to 300 feet.

When buying cordless headphones, you should consider the following: Are they comfortable? Do they stay securely in place for long hours? Are the headphones flexible and unobtrusive? Are the volume and other controls easily accessible? Is the sound quality on both lines clear?

The Internet is a good source for locating the ideal cordless headphones. There are several web sites that provide comprehensive information about the wide range of cordless headphones available in the market today.

Useless Facts And Fun Trivia...

Question: Which is stronger - concrete or bone?
Answer: Bone
Useless Fact: Human bones can actually resist 40 times more stress than concrete. Don't believe it is true? Then picture a piece of concrete the size of a bone and imagine how easily it would break.

Question: What bird lays its egg in another bird's nest?
Answer: Cuckoo, Cowbird, Whyda, Honeyguide and Black-headed Duck
Useless Fact: These birds, called brood parasites, lay their eggs in another bird's nest and let the other bird parents feed and raise their chicks. The "egg abandoner" is then free to mate again and lay more eggs in another nest. The cuckoo is the best known brood parasite and an expert in the art of cruel deception. Its strategy involves stealth, surprise and speed. The mother removes one egg laid by the host mother, lays her own and flies off with the host egg in her bill. The whole process takes barely ten seconds. Cuckoos parasitize the nests of a large variety of bird species and carefully mimic the colour and pattern of their own eggs to match that of their hosts. Each female cuckoo specializes on one particular host species. How the cuckoo manages to lay eggs to imitate each host's eggs so accurately is one of nature's main mysteries.

Question: What is the largest invertebrate?
Answer: Colossal Squid
Useless Fact: A species of squid reported to be significantly larger than the giant squid, is called the Colossal squid, officially named Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni. In February 2007 a live colossal squid was brought to the surface in Antarctic waters by a New Zealand fishing boat. This enormous squid, which was determined to be a male of the species, was 10 meters (32.8 feet), and weighed 450 kilograms (992 pounds), making it the largest squid (the largest invertebrate) ever captured. What is even more astonishing is that, from what scientists know about squid species in general, there is great sexual dimorphism in squids, with females being significantly larger than the males. If that holds true for the Colossal squid, this male specimen that was captured could very well be dwarfed by a much larger female of the species.

Question: Where was the first McDonald's located?
Answer: Arcada, California
Useless Fact: Brothers Dick and Mac McDonald open a hot dog stand called the Airdome in Arcadia, California. In 1940, the brothers move to San Bernardino, California, on Route 66. After noting that almost all of their profits came from hamburgers, the brothers close down the restaurant for several months in 1948 to implement their innovative "Speedee Service System", a streamlined assembly line for hamburgers.

Question: What is the largest insect?
Answer: Acteon Beetle or Longhorn Beetle
Useless Fact: There are different ways of measuring the size of an insect, most people would consider the largest insect to be the bulkiest and in that case the largest insect is the Acteaeom Beetle from South America. The male beetles can be 9cms long by 5cms wide by 4cms thick. If you want to measure largest by overall size, check out the South American Longhorn Beetle (Titanus giganteus) these giants can be over 16cms in body length (not including antennae) One other beetle, Dynastes hercules is also well known for reaching 16cms in length though it is not nearly as heavy. The longest insect in the world is the Stick-Insect (Pharnacia serritypes), the females of which can be over 36cm long.

Behavior Problems of Cats

Cats are simply adorable. They are cuddly and cute, and yes, they enjoy receiving so much attention. That is why sometimes, cats develop several annoying and destructive behavior and you should know how to deal with behavior problems of cats.

Cats are animals, and as such do not have enough reasoning to tell and distinguish right from wrong. But you, the cat owner, knows what is good and bad, and so it is your responsibility to help your cat act accordingly. You need to deal with the behavior problems of cats.

Behavior problems of cats are the usual problems cat owners encounter from their cats. Some owners really feel very annoyed by several of their cat's behavioral problems, so they just hire cat trainers for long-term solutions. Attitude problems are very common in cats.

If you have a cat, it is not enough that you shower your pet with utmost attention and care. It is your responsibility to instill in the cat righteous attitudes especially when there are other people living in your house. Being adorable and cute are not enough for the cat to get away from every offense it makes.

Tips for dealing with behavior problems of cats
Here are some practical tips that would help you control the unwanted behavior problems of cats. Take note that cats also need to act nicely especially when there are other people in the house or if there are guests:

  • Discipline your cat. This is one way to deal with the behavior problems of cats. You could teach the animal about right and wrong behavior. For example, if you see your cat do a nice thing, pat it gently on the head. Otherwise, push your palm on the cat's face. This would give it the signal that what it just did is not acceptable.
  • Do not surprise your cat. Cats hate surprises so to avoid behavior problems of cats avoid surprises. Do not disturb a sleeping cat or suddenly take away food from an eating cat. Doing so would provoke the cat and make it really angry to attack you or anyone.
  • Do not ever hit a cat whenever it does nasty things. This is not a good way to deal with behavior problems of cats. Hitting, just like in kids, is not very effective in making cats realize what deed is wrong. Do not ever teach your cat to develop fear of you.
  • Make specific cat misbehavior impossible to be accomplished. This is another good way to deal with behavior problems of cats. For example, if the cat wants to steel food from containers, keep the containers tightly closed and sealed. Also make light objects and figurines in the house out of reach of cats, or place them in a glass cabinet.
  • For littering and waste elimination behavior problems of cats, you could invest in cat litter boxes. Cat litter boxes are very ideal in training the cat to urinate or eliminate feces responsibly.
  • Take your cat to the vet regularly. That way, you could immediately tell if there is a physiological problem in the cat. Behavior problems of cats may also due to pains. Usually, when cats fall ill, they also tend to misbehave.
  • Cats are possessive. They want your sole attention. If there are other pets in the house, your cat might sense that you are not faithful. To remedy this situation, do not let the cat see you care for and nurture other pets.
  • Use reward and punishment to deal with behavior problems of cats. To make the cat also behave properly, you could also make use of the reward system. For every good deed you see in the cat, reward it by giving its special cat snack. Whenever the cat does bad acts, punish it by not giving it any cat snack, though you must show the cat that there is cat snack that is supposed to be given to it.

If you have tried the above mentioned tips and found no success do not lose hope, you can still tame your cat and you can have a much more rewarding life with your cat if you only learn a few secrets on cat behavior.

Ego Defense Mechanisms

What Are Ego Defense Mechanisms?
When you accidentally injure yourself, your body automatically begins several self healing processes, aiming to restore your body to its original healthy state. But what if you're emotionally hurt? What if you face a sudden shock or a tremendous amount of stress? What if your anxiety becomes more than you can handle? What if you lose a dear one?

Just like how your body has defenses against physical wounds and injuries, it has its defenses against emotional shocks and wounds; they're called Ego Defense Mechanisms or Unconscious Defense Mechanisms.

Ego Defense Mechanisms
The following is an explanation of each of the ego defense mechanisms:-

  • Denial: Denial is refusing to acknowledge the presence of the threat or the occurrence of the unpleasant event. Examples of denial would be refusing to acknowledge the death of a person, questioning the qualifications of the doctor who diagnosed the disease or going like: "Madness? This is Sparta!!" when threatened by a very large army. The problem with denial is that it blocks the road to acceptance; you won't be able to get over that event until you first accept it.
  • Displacement: Displacement is transferring or discharging your emotions on a less threatening object. For example, shouting at your children or having a fight with your neighbor right after your boss shouts at you means that you are angry at your boss but taking it out on your kids. If your displacement ego defense mechanism gets fired, try to control yourself a bit and then work on identifying your real enemy. Don't attack innocent people just because someone you can't harm has emotionally hurt you.
  • Repression: Repression is the complete memory loss of a painful event. In this case, your subconscious mind doesn't want you to remember what happened because it may negatively affect your mood.
  • Projection: Projection is placing blame for the unwanted event upon others. Examples would be saying that you failed an exam because the teacher is racist.
  • Rationalization: Rationalization is the act of rationalizing your wrong actions and creating a self serving explanation for what you did. Saying "I have the right to cheat on the exam because the lessons weren't well explained" is a basic example of rationalization.
  • Sublimation: Sublimation is satisfying your socially unacceptable needs in a socially accepted way. So, by becoming a boxer you are able to satisfy your hidden need for violence.
  • Regression: Regression is returning to a previous state of development. Crying instead of taking actions to solve your problems means you have returned to the stage of childhood.
  • Identification: By identifying with something or someone else you can increase your sense of ego and self-worth. Saying that a famous singer is a friend of yours might make you admired and so cause you to feel better about your other problems.
  • Undoing: This means trying to fix your mistake, like sending a SMS to apologize to a friend you've recently had a fight with.
  • Fantasy: It's pretty much self-explanatory. Imagining yourself beating up your boss with a chair after he's shouted at you is you fantasizing to help make you feel better.
  • Reaction Formation: This behavior has you taking actions that are the opposite of your real desires, like for example greeting one of your enemies warmly just to show that you don't hate him.
  • Humor: Looking at the funny side of a situation can help you forget about the real problem.
  • Compensation: Hiding your weaknesses by acting as a beacon of strength; saying something like "I'm never scared" after watching a horror movie.
  • Affiliation: Affiliation is to seek another's help in getting over your problem.
  • Suppression: In this case, you avoid thinking about that unwanted event.
  • Dissociation: Dissociating yourself from reality and thinking that this is not happening to you is one of the means of emotional defense.

So, Are Ego Defense Mechanisms Effective?
Sometimes they are healthy and sometimes not. Some of them can help you, while others can make the problem even worse; whenever possible, try to consciously detect the presence of the defense mechanism and see if it is really beneficial. If you find that it is not, then try to avoid it and maybe alter it to your benefit.

Blu-Ray or DVD?

Blu-ray is here to stay with its new technology, and it crushes DVD-format in numerous ways. You get comfort and genuineness in one when you buy a Blu-ray disc player.

The vast disc storage is just one of the points, if not one of the most important one. There are room for loads of movies, or music on a blu-ray disc. And if you look at the DVD-format, the Blu-ray-format is more then 5 times bigger.

Different brand marks have launched different technology in Blu-Ray disc players for Internet connection. While you use of Viera Cast in Panasonic, Sony gives you Bravia Sync. DVD are not enable to do that.

You will love the clarity of the sound on a Blu-Ray enabled television.

You can make out various shades of the same colors with ease. Videos are not compressed, as bit-rates are high, 1080 pixels is the ideal format for Blu-Ray players.

Blu-Ray converts all format up to 1080 pixel. Its perfect when you re going for HDTV, which gives you a cinematic feeling. You got USB ports to link SD slots, memory card or Internet connection to be able to download the latest firmware upgrades.

Guru of Adaption
It can run both DVD and CDROM. So you know that with Blu-Ray disc player, you do not have to throw away old Cd's and DVDs. This is a major setback against DVD-format.

Blu-Ray Disc players can also be used as gaming consoles and therefore are a blast with children too. DVD aren't enable to do such things. Two other big points in favor of DVD, they are the cost and power consumption. Companies are working on these premises as well.

Will This Be The Last Movie Of The Harry Potter Series?

Warner Brothers Harry Potter film is set to open July 15th, 2009. Like the previous film, this film will be simultaneously released in regular theatres and IMAX 3D. They are showing some great behind the scenes footage and new scenes from the new film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The video highlights both the dark and comedic moments of the film. Movies like this one are correcting the balance. It offers the best of both worlds.

David Yates is returning for the sixth film Half-Blood Prince, and I am sure that moviegoers will welcome him with open arms. I'm guessing somebody else noticed the improvements. David Yates is the director for which this amazing series has been searching. While Columbus's first two were cute sometimes too cute and imaginative, Cuaron's story driven focus on the third was very well-done, and Newell's streamlined fourth was well acted with poor effects, Yates's vision of the fifth novel was exactly as I imagined everything in my head. David Yates is the fourth director to take on the task of bringing Harry Potter's adventures to the screen. Yates has relatively little feature film directorial experience particularly compared to his predecessors but he still manages to put in a solid effort.

Director David Yates is a seasoned hand at TV realism, his credits include Sex Traffic and The Way We Live Now. Director David Yates has a great way of telling the story. Director David Yates is presently working on the Half-Blood Prince movie but many expected he would step aside for someone else to handle the film version of the seventh and final installment.

Movie fans expect Harry Potter will magically rule box offices this summer. Thirty nine percent of respondents in an online poll named Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince the summer movie they most want to see.

On Harry Potter JK Rowling does an excellent job with this new story. She mixes action and romance with a dose of mystery and a side order of excitement. This could be the last film in the series because the actors getting so old now that it would be hard for future movies to be believable.

Let's Talk About Cats!

Five Popular Cat Breeds
Choosing a cat breed can be a bit daunting, especially if you don’t know very much about cats! When considering a cat, you must be sure to choose a breed that will best suit your lifestyle. Some breeds require more physical activity than others, and some require much more grooming. Look below to find the five most popular cat breeds. You will also find a brief description about each breed’s grooming requirements and personality type.

The Oriental is one of the most popular cat breeds around. This breed is a very intelligent, loyal companion and tends to bond deeply with its family. It has large, pointed ears, and although its body is very sleek, it is still quite a muscular breed.

The American Shorthair is extremely popular with families, as they tend to be very affectionate and friendly. The American shorthair originally was a working breed, mostly for mouse hunting, which explains the agile muscular structure and short hair. They do need alittle exercise, but most are quite content being a lap cat.

The Birman breed is thought to have originated from Burma. It is perhaps best recognized by its blue eyes, white body, and smoky-brown face, ears, legs, and tail. Birmans possess a long, sturdy body structure with long, mat-resistant hair. They love to play and are quite gentle. They are affectionate without being too needy.

If you’re looking for a very affectionate, cuddly cat, then a Sphynx may be the breed for you. Although they look like they have no fur, they actually have a peach-like fuzz all over their body. As they don’t have much hair to protect their skin, they should strictly be kept indoors. This breed does require a bit of extra care, particularly with room temperature, as this breed can easily become too cold.

A very mild and gentle cat breed is the Ragdoll, appropriately named such as it can be quite floppy and relaxed when picked up. If you love a cat that accompanies you from room to room, this breed would likely be a wonderful match for you. They are very careful not to use teeth or claws when playing around, so they would also make an excellent cat for children.

Now that you have a better idea about the most popular, yet very different, breeds out there, hopefully you find choosing a cat to be a little less daunting than before. Be sure to remember that lifestyles are important factors to consider; so if you aren’t very active, you probably shouldn’t choose a cat that requires a lot of activity, and vice versa.

Internet Banking

With all the attention online banking has received in the last couple of years, it seems there are new online banks popping up everywhere. Users are choosing online banking for its ease and convenience. And while issues of identity theft are important factors to consider with online banking, it has not stopped people from utilizing the Web to streamline their finances.

Even more importantly, recent studies suggest that Internet banking doesn't just make life easier, customers who choose it seem to be more satisfied with their bank. The two areas of greatest satisfaction fall in the categories of the convenience online banking provides and the ability to pay bills online. The report also shows that users who pay their bills online experience not only satisfaction with the ability to bank online, but with their specific banking institution, suggesting users have strong confidence in their bank's ability to secure identity. In fact, similar reports have also shown that those who pay bills online retain their business longer at a particular bank than those who do not use a bank's online service.

Many first-time users come to online banking to access their account information such as account balances and check activity. That is followed by the ability to transfer funds between accounts. And finally, many users then move into online bill payment.

Perhaps they start with paying a few utilities online at the utility's website. They may then look into the online bill payment service offered by their bank. Now, banks are seeing more and more users receiving bills electronically.

Yet for some bank customers, concerns about identity theft keep them from trying online banking. Interestingly, their counterparts who do use the Internet to conduct banking do not seem to hold those same perceptions. Most are satisfied with the level of online security offered by their banks. The challenge then for banks lies in the continued education of their customers to try online banking and discover for themselves the high level of security in place at most banks. Once those customers give online banking a try, perceptions of risk seem to decrease, reports indicate. Surprisingly, these same reports discovered that today's security measures put in place by PC users and banks have many ID thieves targeting potential victims offline.

The following are a few tips to consider when choosing an Internet bank account:

  • The Annual Percentage Yield (APR) may be higher with Internet bank accounts, and therefore one of the most important attractions for those looking for a high yield. Conducting transactions online may save the bank money, and those savings may then be passed on to the online customer, most often in the form of higher savings rates.
  • Ability to access money. Online users need to consider what steps are involved in accessing their money in an online account.
  • Ability to link accounts. Users want the ability to link various accounts to one another, making it easy to move money seamlessly between online bank accounts.
  • What types of additional services are available? Potential users should be interested in not only banking online, but purchasing CDs, applying for a mortgage, and paying bills online.
  • Security. Users must confirm that their online bank is FDIC insured and that the security system can be trusted.
  • Ability to set up automatic savings account. There's no reason not to save today with an online account that electronically deposits money into a savings or money market account.

Dell XPS and Inspiron Laptops: a Balance of Features, Performance, and Price...

Choosing personal computers today is influenced by a user centric criteria. These include size, power and graphics, convenience, price, and style. People are opting to buy computers that save on space and can be lugged around for long trips. They want desktop replacements (which perform just as well as PCs, but consumes less space and is portable), and sub notebooks (the new name for the small and ultraportable version of laptops). Among the brands that try to balance features, style, user convenience, and price is Dell.

Shining among Dell XPS laptops is the Dell XPS M1730, one you could say was designed for the gaming masses. With strong SLI graphic, an integrated game panel LCD, a convenient backlit keyboard, this laptop can even let you play media files even without booting to the installed operating system. With its massive hard drive and top of the line video graphics, it's a gaming laptop that's more than a replacement desktop. Dell also offers the new Alienware M17X a superb notebook for gamers with Alienware’s BinaryGFX technology, where users have the ability to switch between discrete or integrated graphics. Also Stealth Mode — While in Stealth Mode, discrete graphics cards are turned off and other components throttle down to achieve a 65W power limit.

If you're going for thin and light and hardly a compromise, go for the Dell XPS Notebooks. The Dell XPS M1530, for example, is a fine one. At 5.7 pounds, it's no Mac Air, but it doesn't compromise of features. It's got an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics and 256MB of video memory, more than what you need for YouTube and just enough for the artist's image tweaking and high resolution DVD playback. It's 4 GB of memory is certainly more than what most of the current no compromise notebooks offer. This thin notebook is good enough as a desktop replacement for most people. But not for the hard core gamers.

Dell Inspiron notebooks are a mix of entry level features and pricing. The Dell Inspiron 15, for example, has been released with improvements after consumers provided feedback on the earlier models. This one sports a thinner and lighter frame, and a 2GB RAM along with Intel Core 2 Duo engine. Not bad, except for the plastic feel.

On the cutting edge of newness are the Dell Inspiron Mini 10v Netbooks. The name itself gives away what people on the move would use this for: Internet surfing. Weighing only a little above two pounds, and at just ten inches, it looks perfect for pulling out on Starbucks to catch up on a friend's blog, or check out maps, and do some Twitter'ing. It's got editions that run Ubuntu Linux and Windows XP. Dell Inspiron Laptops are just amazing.

So, let's recap. When you're buying a laptop, here's the criteria:-

  • Space (you don't want one that consumes your desk, power and graphics (you want to be able to have fun surfing and yet open multiple spreadsheets and applications).
  • Convenience (you don't want to spend more time tweaking and fixing your PC than actually using it).
  • Price (you don't want to loan a lot or save up for months for it).
  • Style (gone are the days when awkward and squarish corners looked futuristic).

Dell does a very good job of offering a line of notebooks and laptops that meet these needs, your needs.

Gumblar Still At Large...

What is it?
Gumblar
is another multi-faceted, ninja-quiet website attack.
Gumblar is named after the Gumblar.cn exploit, which so far targets users of Internet Explorer and Google search, delivering malware through compromised sites that infects a user's PC and subsequently intercepts traffic between the user and the visited sites. This means that once infected, anything the victim types could be monitored and used to commit identity theft, such as stealing credit card numbers, Web passwords or other sensitive data. Visitors encountering the compromised website also risk having their subsequent search results replaced with links that point to other malicious websites. The malware can also steal FTP credentials from the victim's computer and use them to infect more sites, thus increasing the spread of this threat. So far, more than 3,000 websites have been attacked including Tennis.com, Variety.com and Coldwellbanker.com.

Who is at risk?
Users of Internet Explorer and Google's search engine.

How do I know if I've been infected?
(as reported by Elinor Mills with data from ScanSafe):-

1. Locate sqlsodbc.chm in the Windows system folder (by default under Windows XP, the location is C:\Windows\System32\).
2. Obtain the SHA1 of the installed sqlsodbc.chm. FileAlyzer is a free tool that can be used to obtain the SHA1 of a file.
3. Compare the obtained SHA1 to the list located on the ScanSafe STAT Blog.
4. If the SHA1 and corresponding file size do not match with a pair on the reference list, it could be an indication of a Gumblar infection.
