World Cup 2006 is around the corner...

The FIFA World Cup™ is the biggest sporting event on earth. Every four years, the world holds its breath as nations come together in the spirit of competition and Fair Play, and go head-to-head with pride in their hearts and the goal in their sights, all for the chance to be crowned world champions.

In the 17 finals since the inaugural championship organised by FIFA in 1930, Brazil have emerged victorious five times, with Germany and Italy each winning three times.

The intriguing 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™, again won by the Brazilians, drew 2.7 million spectators to the 64 matches, and posted a cumulative television audience of nearly 30 billion people.

The 2006 finals return to Germany for the first time since 1974, whereas future FIFA World Cups will be held in South Africa in 2010 and South America in 2014.
