New, more colorful $10 bill to debut

In a photograph released by the U.S. Treasury, the front of the newly designed $10 bill is shown Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005. The $10 bill note became the third bill denomination to be jazzed up with colors as part of the government's effort to thwart counterfeiters. The Federal Reserve will begin shipping Thursday March 2, 2006 the first of 800 million of the new $10 bills to commercial banks. In the next few days, those bills will start showing up in cash registers around the country.
