Commonwealth Games 2010 Official Theme Song and Mascot

The Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2010 Delhi theme song, Jiyo Utho Bado Jeeto  (Live, Rise, Ascend, Win), was launched on 28 August by music maestro A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire). The song is call to the people and athletes of India and Commonwealth to come out and play. It has been appreciated by most Indians but some did not found it up to the mark and prefer Himesh to do the job.

Shera, mascot of the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi, is the most visible face of the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi. His name comes from the Hindi word Sher – meaning tiger. Shera truly represents the modern Indian. He is an achiever with a positive attitude, a global citizen but justifiably proud of his nation’s ancient heritage, a fierce competitor but with integrity and honesty. Shera is also a ‘large-hearted gentleman’ who loves making friends and enthusing people to ‘come out and play’.

In Indian mythology, the tiger is associated with Goddess Durga, the embodiment of Shakti (or female power) and the vanquisher of evil. She rides her powerful vehicle – the tiger – into combat, especially in her epic and victorious battle against Mahishasur, a dreaded demon.

Shera embodies values that the nation is proud of: majesty, power, charisma, intelligence and grace. His athletic prowess, courage and speed on the field are legendary. He is also a reminder of the fragile environment he lives in and our responsibility towards the protection of his ecosystem.
Shera official song was launched on 9 September 2010.  The song Shera was conceived and produced by Vikramjit Sahney. The music composer is Jeetu J. The song has been sung in Hindi and English by Vikramjit Sahney, Shibani Kashyap and Millind. It reflects the spirit of Shera, representing majesty, power, charisma and grace.

Octopus Paul picks Spain!

It is confirmed that Octopus Paul is picking Spain as the FIFA 2010 World Cup champion! Hmm... read my previous post what could be happened if Octo Paul choosing Spain hehehe... Read about Octo Paul picked Spain here.

I am not worry because I am with  Mani the parakeet from Singapore who have good predictions record too! Only this bird is not as famous as Octo Paul.  Mani picked Netherland!  So am I! :) :)

All the BEST and Hope you are right Mani! ;)

Hope you are WRONG Octo Paul! :-)

p.s. As far as I am concern, Octo Paul always picked the right side box to eat no matter what country's flag is there... So the person who put the flag in the box is a good game analyser... Hahaha...   Only against England Octo Paul quickly picked the Germany box at the left side maybe because he was too hungry... Hahaha...

Octopus Paul and World Cup Final..

So far that Octopus predicted well. I think Octopus Paul can only predicting well for the matches involving Germany soccer team. Other than that Octopus Paul might make mistake.  No matter what I'll take Holland for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

That's my prediction and I'll wait for Octopus Paul pick and if happen he picked Holland maybe Holland would win or maybe lost too. If "Paul" picked Spain then for sure Spain would lost the match.  We'll see... He he he. BTW I am not an octopus!

As a living kind I think Octopus  must be protected day and night or move him to Netherland for a while for a security reason because Germans do not feel at ease at Paul now... Watch the clip :)  Do not let this happen to the innocent Octo Paul... he he.

    Tennis Anyone?

Collecting stamps doesn’t make you a ‘Dork’ Maria!
“It is something that was introduced to me when I was very young,” the 22-year-old said.“I have been very lucky over the years to travel to some amazing countries and I always try to collect stamps from every place I go.

“I am hoping one day that I will be able to hand my collection over to my kids.”

Usually influential for her racket skills and ‘marketers dream’ looks over her off-court hobbies, Sharapova’s admission has contributed to a more fashionable image for the
    most traditional of pastimes.

Stamp sales have increased by 30 percent in the last month according to ebay, while the Royal Philatelic society has noticed a significant rise in its membership.

    Sharapova first admitted to the unlikely hobby in 2006, though at the time, she appeared less than reluctant to divulge the information, muttering;
“Everyone’s calling me a dork now.”

WTA adds Malaysia to 2010 events.

The Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) in collaboration with promoters Carbon Media Management and the Youth and Sports Ministry will host the Malaysian Tennis Classic 2010 at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort from Feb 22-28.

With Malaysia joining a select number of countries in Asia to host the Tour event, the tournament will be guaranteed of the presence of at least two players from the top 20. Besides a 32-player singles competition, the tournament will also have a doubles event featuring 16 pairs.

The LTAM president, Datuk Abdul Razak Latiff, said that Malaysia would be hosting a WTA-sanctioned event for the first time.
